SQL Server 2012 SP1 Slipstream Refreshed ISO Released

Today Microsoft released a ‘refreshed’ SQL Server 2012 SP1 ISO, which includes two hotfixes for installation problems. They also slimmed down the ISOs so they only contain x86 or x64 bits, not both. From the TechNet description:

This media refresh includes fixes to the installation issue described in KB Article 2792097. Please also note this media refresh replaces the media refresh made on November 27, 2012 (See KB Article 2783963). Additionally, the ISO media images on this site previously contained images that supported both x86 and x64 architectures. This media refresh also breaks these images out into more compact single architecture downloads to enhance download performance and reliability. No other changes have been made to the product.

The SQL Server 2012 Enterprise Edition with SP1 for x64 platform is now just a slim 3.7GB. Unlike previous SQL versions, Microsoft is releasing official slipstream media. Sign in to your TechNet account to get the download. The new ISOs are dated 12/10/2012.

If you are a volume license customer, the ISOs weren’t posted yet. So hopefully in the next few days corporations can get access to the refreshed ISOs.
